What do you think is the best Windows Phone 7 device for lawyers? When I way-UP-graded from my AT&T iPhone, the choices were the Samsung Focus, the LG Quantum, and the HTC Surround. I eliminated the Surround pretty quickly because I didn’t think the slide-out speaker was as important to me as either the screen quality or keyboard. The slider keyboard on the LG Quantum was really nice, and I could imagine a lot of utility in that, but the screen was so small that I couldn’t see text in the browser very easily. But when I saw the 4-inch Super AMOLED screen on the Focus, I was sold. It might not have the “retina” display of the iPhone 4, but the blackest blacks and vibrant colors of the Focus make up for it in spades. I have never seen a phone with clearer text display, especially black on white and white-on-black. It has not disappointed in the 4 weeks I have had it.
I wanted to try the Dell Venue Pro, with its vertical slider keyboard (similar to the Blackberry Torch so many of my colleagues have adopted), but it was in woefully short supply. The good news is I get to test one next week, so look for a post.
